TANO designer handbag ROOM SERVICE 3370 woven leather designer purse - MORE COLORS at eFashionHouse

Louis Vuitton king of the handbag and purse, can now boast another huge name in its roster of celebrity associates: Kanye West. The famous rapper is bigger than big these days, and his announcement is certainly to add to Louis Vuitton’s pop culture cachet, not to mention their coffers. His plan is to release both a men’s and women’s line of shoes by the fall.

There’s no hint yet of what the shoes might look like. Everyone’s being fairly secretive about the Kanye Louis Vuitton design. With a Louis Vuitton handbag or even a Louis Vuitton purse, we would probably have a better idea of what to expect. But with West-designed shoes, who knows? All we can say is that they’re bound to be highly stylish. The rapper is well known for his fashion consciousness, and he even made the announcement last week in Paris, dressed entirely in clothes from his own line.

Louis Vuitton, aside from being a purse, sunglasses and handbag giant, is well known for enlisting stars from unlikely artistic spheres to help design and sell their product. Most famously, Takashi Murakami has been an LV collaborator for the past few years, and designed the now ubiquitous Louis Vuitton Multicolor Monogram ogo. Murakami even worked with Kanye on the cover of his album "Graduation." My, what a tangled web they weave!

The handbag and the purse are what Louis Vuitton does best, but it seems that more and more they are adept at tapping into new markets and new talent pools using the hottest stars of the day. So stay tuned for Kanye’s shoe designs – we’re all waiting in anticipation for them.

‘Power of Purse’ luncheon raises funds for United Way Foundation

Read the Tano Bag blog for information about Tano handbags at unbeatable deals!

from Albert Lea Tribute

A United Way “Power of the Purse” luncheon at First Lutheran Church resulted in an addition of more than $4,600 to the United Way of Freeborn County Foundation.

“This surpassed our expectations,” said Sally Chesterman, one of the coordinators of the event. “We knew that women of Freeborn County have the capacity to make a big difference in our community and we were thrilled with the response to this appeal.”

Approximately 80 women attended the event, which was sponsored by Adams & Winter, Bonnerup Funeral Service, Farmer’s State Bank, Freeborn Lumber, Mrs. Gerry’s Kitchen, Nancy VanderWaerdt State Farm Insurance and Northbridge Mall. The meal was served by Cedar Valley Services. Harpist Rachel Christensen provided music. Committee members were Sally Chesterman, Karol Held and Corinne Applegate.

Former Albert Lea Tribune reporter and columnist Lois West Duffy, the featured speaker, invited those in attendance to put the “power of the purse” to work, making a difference for the community long-term through the United Way Foundation.

She quoted Paul G. Schervish, head of the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College, who called giving “an important route to writing your moral biography.”

She pointed out that people are more inclined to give if their donations are matched, increasing the impact of each donation. So the women attending the luncheon were offered a challenge: every dollar raised, up to $500, would result in two more dollars, essentially tripling a donor’s gift. The women responded generously, donating more than $2,900. The matches and a silent auction of designer purses brought the total amount for the foundation to over $4,600.

The United Way of Freeborn County Foundation was established in 2000 to provide support and back-up for the annual fund-raising drive to protect the human service organizations in Freeborn County that rely on United Way funding.

For information about the United Way Foundation, contact the United Way office at 373-8670 or 341 S Broadway, Albert Lea.

Tano bag leather story

Tano bags are made of genuine leather. The Tano bag style is organic looking with an urban look and feel. There are specific characteristics of natural leather hides which make every Tano bag unique. Leather is a natural material whose durability, texture and beauty make it one of the most popular materials on today's market. All of the natural range markings are visible - a subtle assurance that distinguishes real leather from imitation. The beauty of each leather item is enhanced by unique varying grain patterns and the subtleties of color and texture created by dyes and finishes. With time and use, leather products will mature and darken - giving them a rich patina.

When purchasing a Tano bag, please keep in mind, due to the natural materials used to construct a Tano bag, each item takes on characteristics of its own. There may be variations in colors because of the hand dye process used for the leather hides. There may be natural markingins in the hide due to the characteristics of leather. All these attributes create a funky, organic and urban look for people of all ages.

A value of a handbag - a Tano bag

Tano handbags are adorable and affordable. They sure have gotten a lot of ePress lately. People are buying them as fast as they are made. I guess it's because they are made in really edgy, urban designs. Tano bags are also made of all leather. The leather used is an inexpensive quality, but nonetheless, still a really good leather for the price you pay. We are addicted to Tano. The colors are gorgeous. Lawn green, dandelion yellow and watermelon red are just a few of the colors this season. Click here to see more about Tano bags online.

Sienna Miller syndrome: Why a woman owns 111 handbags in her lifetime

Tano Handbags affordable adorable to collect

from The Daily Mail

For most women the handbag is more of a lifestyle necessity than a fashion accessory. And it seems having only one - or even two, three or four - just won't do. Indeed, researchers have found that the average 30-year-old owns 21 handbags and buys a new one every three months. That adds up to 111 over the course of a lifetime - with a total outlay of more than £8,000.

Five per cent of those surveyed even admitted to owning more than 100 at present. The average spend on each handbag is £76, but, of course, prices go far higher than that. Do women really need 111 handbags? Join the debate... Celebrities such as Sienna Miller and Lindsay Lohan sporting glitzy arm accessories have helped to popularise expensive designer brands, say the researchers, who asked 1,500 shoppers about their handbags.

It emerged that women typically use three on a regular basis, changing to suit the occasion, outfit or even their mood. The remaining bags are stored in an easily reachable place "just in case". Many handbags are passed down through generations, the survey found, with one in eight women owning one more than 50 years old. One in three of those questioned had guilty consciences about their excessive handbag-buying habits. When asked what was the most they had ever spent on one, the aver-for women in their 20s was £185, while for 30-somethings it was a purse-popping £380, with designer labels Mulberry and Chloe being most popular.

When asked why women hoard so many handbags, nearly seven in ten said it's because "you never know what they'll go with". One in five said they are so fond of their handbags that sentimental value stops them throwing old ones away. Angela Poplett is a personal shopper at Lakeside shopping centre in Essex, which carried out the survey. She said: "Handbags can change your whole look and transform a plain outfit into one that's set to impress.

"Often women buy a new handbag to suit a certain outfit and don't want to throw it away after just one use so keep hold of it to use again one day. "It's clear from the results of this research that British women have some sort of handbag obsession. "Maggie Thatcher started the trend with her love for handbags and today's celebrities such as Sienna Miller, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie have followed in her footsteps - so much so that I like to call this handbag obsession 'Sienna Miller Syndrome'."

The researchers also asked about the contents of handbags. As well as the usual items such as mobile phones, makeup and house keys, they were found to contain plasters, paracetamol, vitamins and even mini first-aid kits. Other items included dental floss, a spare stocking and insect repellent. As much as women love their handbags, it seems that many just can't keep hold of them with 53 per cent of those questioned admitting to losing their prized bag one or more times.

Tano Handbags Are A Sensual Experience

by herfavoritehandbags

The manufacturer of Tano handbags believes that buying a Tano handbag is a sensual experience. They argue that you need to handle the bag, run the zippers, squeeze the leather and fit your cell phone into the tiny pockets before you purchase the handbag. They firmly believe that you have to fall in love with this handbag before you buy it.

This idea of sensual handbags is exactly why you cannot find Tano handbags for sale in any department store. The Tano label owners will only sell to local boutique retailers and only very limited on-line websites. Their marketing objective is to make Tano handbags exclusive by not selling to a wide marketplace and to give their client a personalized touch. Their theory is a touchy feely product.

This is a very interesting concept because women like a wide choice when selecting handbags. Women are comparison shoppers and like to have choice, especially when selecting handbags. Tano is banking on their repeat business, word of mouth marketing and an individualized experience for first time buyers.

The Bags
Tano handbags
are really very reasonably priced. Where most designer handbags range in price from $250.00 to $1500.00, these handbags average in price from $150.00 to $250.00. Tano handbags are unique in their design, upscale and attractive to a wide range of women. They are of high quality leather and their wide assortments of color are developed specifically for Tano handbags. The uniqueness of the bag is its handcrafted attention to every detail. The leathers are fine soft leather and each handbag is completely lined, has a sunglass pocket, cell phone pocket and a zippered pocket and can be converted into a shoulder bag. Their sling messenger bags are the most popular in the line. Each Tano handbag has a specific title such as, The Romantic Tote, Gingersnap Handbag, The Tano Sexbomb Crunch Bag, The Bauhaus Black Bag, Tano Depeche Bag, The Suzy Hotrod, Tano Boogie Bucket Bag, Tano Misunderstood Bag and The Tano Old School Woven Bag just to name a few.

The titles give them another mystery and individual style. The Tano handbag line is very competitive with the major designer labels, such as Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. They respond for a need for designer look without the high end price. For the handbag lover who appreciates quality, style and a good price point, these bags are well worth the price. They will last for years are trendy and absolutely beautiful. If you want a designer look and can’t pay the high price, definitely try a Tano handbag.

We hope you never do. But, because all of our bags are crafted by the human hand an occasional issue may arise. We’re all human. In that case bring your bag back to the retail store where you purchased it and we’ll take it from there. Each retailer has a different store policy. We work with the retailer to make sure you’re happy and that you stay a loyal Tano bag fan.

Designer Purses - Best Ways to Store Them

from Purses 'n Bags

Hi, This is Kimberly and I want to share with you my thoughts on the best ways to store your designer purses. The life of a designer purse depends much on how it is been used or handled by the person who bought it. If preserved properly, designer purses last long. On the other hand, if treated it to rough use, it won’t remain in good shape for long, all the company guarantee and manufacturing techniques not withstanding.

Here are few tips for doing so:

1. Place the bags that you usually use on the top or side shelf of your closet. Don’t put them on the floor unless it is stored securely in boxes.

2. Rather than saving them in air tight boxes, store your designer purses in wicker storage baskets or plastic bags that allows air circulation. Doing so also makes it easy to stack them away in shelves/cupboards.

3. Store the purses, which you will not use too often, wrapped in cloth storage bags or cotton pillow cases. Avoid boxes or cases that do not permit air flow.

4. If you store more than one bag together in a case/box, ensure that the metal parts of bags such as chains and rings does not scratch or torn other bags in the case. Undo buckles on straps or use tissue paper to cover the metal parts so that bags don’t ‘hurt’ each other while being tucked away.

5. In order to keep the bag in shape, to prevent it from crushing inside the box, stuff it with tissue paper or any non-acid filling (don’t use old newspapers). Bubble wrap is a better choice over tissue paper wraps because the former does not attract moths.

6. Finally, place a small crucible of baking powder on the floor, at the back of your closet where the bags are kept, so that the space won’t smell musty after some time.

In addition to doing all these, make it a point to periodically clean your purses so that it’ll remain fresh always. Most times, it is the lack of attentiveness that spoils your purses.

I hope you found this info helpful. Love you and your bags, Kimberly.

Classy Clutch Bags - Pack It, Grab It & Go

The Tano Clutch bag above is available in Gold, Silver or Pewter metallic distressed leather. It is ideal to carry alone or use inside a larger bag!

By Sheila Nelson

Ladies, although you may love carrying a large handbag everyday, you will also love carrying a handy clutch bag. Clutch bags are classy and easy handbags but not always easy for women to transition into because there is a limit to how much you can fit into it. However, you may like the fact that it makes you down size on the amount of stuff you carry in your purse. Clutch bags force you to carry only what you really need when you go out.

If you cannot fit your wallet into the clutch, you can pull out your ID and credit cards and put them in a secret compartment. The same thing goes with your makeup bag. If you cannot fit the whole makeup bag, you certainly need your lip liner and lipstick so that goes into your clutch. You also need to make sure you have a comb for just in case your hair blows out of place, you can touch it up. You also need your cell phone. Last but not least are your keys. If you cannot fit your cell phone and your keys into the clutch, then the clutch may not work for you. Choose a larger clutch that will give you more space for the things you need to carry. If everything fits, you are good to go. If you have any extra room left in your clutch, you can always add more items such as a compact or a small mirror, or whatever else small you might want to carry with you. You can certainly squeeze a pack of gum or mints in there.

Now that you have carefully packed but not over stuffed your clutch bag, you are ready to go out to lunch, dinner, or a party. The reason I call the clutch bag an easy handbag is because you will never have a problem finding a place to put your clutch bag when you are at a restaurant or at a party. You can place your clutch bag right on the dinner table or in your lap without a problem. When you carry a big handbag to a restaurant, you sometimes need another seat just for your handbag which is not always possible. When you carry a clutch to a night club, you can dance with it under your arm or use the wrist band and let it hang from your wrist. It does not look as bad as having a big large shoulder bag while dancing on the dance floor.

Clutch bags look best with a pair of high heel shoes or at least a pair of pointed toes with a little heel. Clutch bags are classy little bags that should accent your wardrobe and make you feel like a lady when you carry it. Once you start carrying a clutch bag, you will love how you can grab it and go.

So You Love Handbags?

From BagFancy

A few things to consider before shopping . So you really like handbags. Okay, maybe you love them. That much is clear. But now what? Picking a handbag isn't rocket science, but there are some things to think about when shopping. Some are questions of what you want in a bag, while other considerations are much more practical. Thinking through these can make a difference between being happy with your purchase or leaving your new bag sitting in your closet collecting dust.

Style
You're browsing, and you spot a bag that you're absolutely in love with. Sitting on the rack (or calling to you from your computer screen), it's the cutest thing you've ever seen! But unless you're going to hang it on the wall of your apartment for your guests to admire, you'll want to ask yourself this question: What is this bag going to look like on me? Remember that a bag is only one piece of the puzzle - it should ideally match an outfit or your wardrobe (not just color, but also style and attitude). So before buying, mentally cruise your closet and try to think of what you would wear while carrying that bag. Image is everything!!! When considering handbags/outfits, look at the image you are trying to project. Whether you're going for cute, sexy, cool, chic, conservative, etc. think of how the bag will help you pull off the image. Remember, everyone is unique and some styles don't work for everyone. Also, not all styles work for every occasion. Generally you will shop with specific kinds of activities or events in mind - and of course a formal night out is not going to be the same as a day of running errands. You might eventually want to develop a rotating repertoire of different styles for different occasions. Finally, consider your body shape and size. Handbags come in many different shapes and colors along with style, so make sure to pick one that is flattering for you. Take a look at a guide to matching body and handbag shape before picking (see Links at bottom of article).

Carrying Capacity
All right, so you've found a handbag that looks great on you. But it is a bag, after all, and you just might also want to put stuff in it. How much will you be able to fit in your potential bag? Also, what are you going to put in it? Along with the overall size of the bag, give some thought to things like compartments and accessibility.

Comfort
Another question: how easy will it be to carry? How big is the bag, and what kind of handle does it have? Depending on where you're going and whether you have a place to put your bag, you might end up holding it for a while. You're going to look great with your new handbag. You might as well be comfortable too!

Price
From the infrequent buyer to the shopaholic, we all eventually ask ourselves: How much should I spend? What is this bag worth to me? "Worth" is not just a matter of a dollar value, but also of what it does for you when you have it. Will you be happy that you spent the money and bought it? Is it worth giving up lunch for a week to own that cute bag? Is it worth giving up the extra week's lunch for the matching shoes you now need? Whether you spend thousands of dollars on a Hermes Kelly Bag or $8 on a tote bag from Target, if it was worth it to you, then as Bob Barker says… the price is right. In the end… Shopping for a bag should be fun. That's what it's all about, isn't it? But if you take a little extra time to consider whether the style, carry capacity, comfort level, and price all suit you - you can end up being that much happier with your choice. And hey… Informed shopping can be that much more enjoyable anyway!

The Good Life

by Oh My That's Awesome

So the other night I was on a crowded subway--every seat taken and the aisle packed with people in their winter coats, clutching handbags and leftovers from their Saturday evening dinners. I was lucky enough to snag a seat, but had to deal with someone's crotch resting on my knee and another person's elbow shoved in my neck. Through it all there was a flash of something beautiful. Hanging precariously from a dainty shoulder of a fellow passenger was the one thing I could safely rest my weary eyes upon without risking the ultimate faux pas of catching someone's gaze. I kept my eye on this beautiful handbag for 7 stops and just as its owner stepped off the subway, I caught a glint of a tag and read the word, "Tano." Tano, I whispered to myself in the quiet of the Brooklyn night as I made my way to a friend's party, the word holding the promise of a life worth living.

Sadly, I googled Tano bags the next morning and discovered that they're roughly $200 a pop. But then I remembered two other words that sound like heaven: Tax Refund.

Current Handbag Affairs: Limiting designer handbag sales & heavy purse concerns

Photo. Tano Handbags are eFashionHouse.com's best selling designer handbag. Click here to read more.

by Anna Miller

January 2008 Designer handbag woes of the month. Warnings are on Television, online and on the news. Everywhere you surf or shop, you can read about or hear about two current issues concerning a woman's handbag:

1. Health issues concerning women who carry a heavy handbag.

2. Limiting designer handags sales imposed by the department stores.

Do you think it's a coincidence? First, we hear about how unhealthy handbags are becoming, and then we are told we can't buy as many as we want. It is all quite humorous.

FIRST issue - Health Concerns and A Heavy Handbag.

The concern of health related issues around carrying a heavy handbag has been on T.V. talk shows, the news and online. When was the last time anyone wrote a story or news flash about the weight a Pharmaceutical Salesperson lugs around on his/her Doctor office visits? These folks use bags on wheels the load is so heavy! And, they do it everyday from the trunk of a car or van, up flights of stairs, on elevators, down long hallways, through crowds and some even inside and out of taxis. Or, what about the lap top industry taking notice about the weight people carry around all day to do their jobs? Most women carry a large bag because they commute to work and need extra items to make it through the day. Or, they are too busy to clean out the bag before they leave the house. Students have been lugging heavy book bags for year. What's their health concerns? You may think it is a joke, but some women like carrying a large purse because it makes them feel smaller. There are a lot of big women who think they look strange carrying anything less than a large bag. A bag plus normal contents equals normal handbag weight.

There are many large handbag styles that weight little. Chanel handbags, even with long chain straps, uses light weight lamb leather and vinyl in its designs. The USA brand of Tano all-leather bags are light weight considering their size. Gucci uses monogram fabric in their construction making the bag weight tolerable.

Women who commute and travel to and from work everday enjoy taking a bottle of water, a book to read, some munchies and female essentials. These women either carry a small purse and a second tote bag/briefcase or one large attractive designer handbag. This does not mean the same weight in a purse is carried out to dinner on a Saturday night or when shopping at the grocery store. There's a purpose behind the heavy handbag, and it hasn't caused any life-threatening disease. We may want to look closer at these "handbag rental" companies who pass along germs and viruses from person-to-person instead. Yuck, just the thought of using a handbag a stranger has carried is repulsive. Renting a designer handbag poses more health issues than carrying a heavy bag!

SECOND issue - Limiting designer handbag sales by the department stores.

This is such an unrealistic predictor of designer bag sales. Most of the websites in question have had a limit on the number of designer items they would sell regardless of the "breaking news." Plus, it won't hurt the sale or resale of designer purses. Women will buy what they want and figure out a way to get it regardless of anyone's rules! What we should really be focused upon is the prices women pay for their fashion icon purchases. Seems like there's a much bigger issue here than quantity. The issue should be quality and cost. The weakness of the USD plays an important part, too. Some handbags sell for the same price as a new car! That's what we need to look at. Not, how many we are allowed to purchase, but rather how much we have to pay to own one.

The best materials come from Europe. Italy's leather and designs have ranked the highest over the years. However, if the same bag was assembled in a more cost-effective manner, the price would be less. The hype about Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Burberry, etc. is all just a matter of taste, style and design. Some of the design houses are notorious about pricing. Others, focus more on production and distribution. Then, the counterfeit market jumps onboard and screws it up for all of us. In the end, it doesn't matter how much women are allowed to purchase, it's how they can figure out a way to manipulate the system to get what they want.

The best example is the Hermes Birkin bag. The bag is large, heavy, hand-held and high-priced. Most women who want one figure out a way to get it even though they are rarely available through Hermes. Look at eBay. There are sellers on eBay who list 10-15 Birkin bags. Where are they getting these bags if Hermes limits the manufacturing, distribution and resale of the coveted Birkin? Someone figured out a way to buy them regardless of the Designer's decision for limiting sales. Honestly, most women who carry a Birkin suffer from hand, wrist and neck pain due to its weight. Even Jane Birkin herself reports she stopped carrying the bag because over time it became too painful. The empty Birkin bag outweighs any other handbag filled with a person's daily essentials.

CONCLUSION.

Are we concened? Is there something we need to worry about? Or, is the designer handbag industry looking for ways to sell more bags? The fashion bag industry is booming. In 2005, the average cost of a designer purse the major high-end department stores was about $2000. In 2007, the same item averaged about $3000. A woman's designer handbag wishes are here to stay regardless of health issues, availability and cost. Women get what they want, and in the fashion industry they suffer to look good! This is not going to change or fade away in the near future. So, go shopping and carry on....it doesn't matter how much you spend or how much it weighs. Every working woman deserves the designer handbag of their dreams!

Taking Care Of Your Handbags - A How To Guide

by Handbagista

For many of us handbagistas out there, buying a handbag is something of an investment. Or at the very least, we need to take care of our handbags so that we can maximize our enjoyment of them.

Here’s a few handy hints on how to care for our bags. Do remember as you read through this - make sure you always test any suggestion on a small area of your bag first, leave it then check later - after at least an hour - to ensure this doesn’t react badly. Where possible, ALWAYS use the suggestions made by the manufacturer in the care booklet! Handbagista can not be held responsible for any problems occuring from using any of the following advice in any form. It’s worked for us and people we know - but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t test and be safe yourself!!

For fabric handbags (including jacquards), most modern fabrics are treated to be both water and stain resistant. If you spill something on your handbag, blot it up at once. It will come out easier if it is still wet.

If a stain is resistant, you should be able to use a gentle soap to softly rub out as much of the stain as possible. For some all-cotton totes, their manufacturers will suggest that you can wash them in sudsy water if spot cleaning isn’t sufficient.

Remember - If you’re in doubt about the care, contact the manufacturer.

For nylon bags, you’re going to want to stick with spot cleaning or talk to a professional dry cleaner to help you clean your handbag.

For leather handbags, consider using a leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and supple. Watch out though, most conditioners will darken the color of the leather prematurely. Check with the handbag manufacturer, often times they’ll have a recommended product to use with their specific collections.

For suede, use a suede brush to gently remove any debris. If you feel it necessary to further clean it, go to an expert for help.

For patent leather handbags, keep all petroleum based products away from them. That means no leather conditioners. You can use a soft damp cloth to wipe away debris. Patent leather can act like Silly Putty so make sure you don’t keep any offending items next to it (newspaper, magazines, etc.). Store in a felted storage bag and keep away from sunlight or dry heat.

For evening handbags, experts suggest that you lightly stuff them with acid-free tissue paper to keep them from getting wrinkled. Store them in a felted storage bag or a pillowcase to keep the dust off of the fine embroidery.

For all of your handbags, don’t store them in plastic (it doesn’t breathe) and don’t hang them, it puts stress on the handles and stitching around the handles. Lightly pad the inside of your handbag with acid free tissue paper to keep it from developing “wrinkles.” Hat boxes make great storage units for handbags that are out of season.

My first Tano bag - "Circa" 1964

Right around the same time "I Want to Hold Your Hand" hit the radio, I purchased my first TANO Handbag. Believe it or not, if you had asked me then if I thought Tano was better than the Beatles' music, I would've chosen Tano.

Yes, it's true. My favorite handbag designer in 1964 was TANO. I was 14 and already addicted to style and fashion. In those days, we sewed much of our clothing, traded, borrowed from each other, and saved our money to buy Gloria Vanderbuilt designer jeans! Buying a new purse was the most important task of all because back then, you had only one purse.

I remember my first Tano purchase as though it was yesterday. My school friend and I saved our money for a Tano barrel bag. It was cool! All the girls were carrying them. At least the cool ones -- so we thought.

Our little Midwest hometown wasn't much when it came to fashion as it's stated nowadays. Nonetheless, we had a few really cool clothing stores downtown and a handbag store -- Hollebs, Garbs and Elliots! The handbag store, Garbs, sold all the best bags available -- Coach was probably one of the highest styles at that time. And, there was Tano.

We loved the Tano styles because they were cool, affordable and made well. Nice to know not much has changed when it comes to Tano quality. We saved our babysitting money and bought our Tano bags, and it made us feel cool.

I wish I had a picture of my first Tano purse! The bag was a barrle shape, had double straps to carry over the arm. The body of the bag was partially covered with a heavy woven burlap style twill cloth, and it had complimentary black leather trim. The front of the purse closed with a flap front and a turnlock closure.

I'm telling you, this Tano barrel bag became one of the icons of the mid-60's. Gee, I wish I could remember the price, and I wish I still had that bag, or just a photo of it now. But, the memories still live on. The images I remember of those days include a teased, bubble hair style, white sneakers with nylon panty hose stockings and a very cool, black Tano handbag.

I have Tano to thank for creating fond fashion memories.

A modern briefcase Tano Bag Electroplate 3755

So, I shop for fun and always find something to buy. Recently, TANO leather bags have caught my eye. They are really irrisitable. Tano quality has improved over the past few years, and the styles and designs are truly amazing.

The Tano handbag pictured above is called the Electroplate, style number 3755. It's a new Tano style this season. It's available in a variety of colors and our favorite is black, brown or gray. Gray is a hot color this season and there are many Tano purses available in gray. Gray is the new black for Fall 07.

Tano bags are made with a working girl in mind. The exterior is all leather. Leather is so easy to keep clean and maintain. The leather Tano handbags are constructed of is soft, light weight and finished. Many of the styles use a distressed washed leather making the look even more contemporary and modern. An aged look adds to the Tano bag's appeal.

The Electroplate design above is constructed of a smooth soft leather that will take on a nice soft wear over time. The interior is fully lined in cloth and there are several extra inside pockets. Tano's handbags always provide organized options for the user. There's a pocket for credit cards or business cards. There are zipper pockets and open pouches for cell phones, too. It's amazing how wonderful Tano handbags are made considering their price.

High end designer handbags sell for several hundreds or thousands of dollars. Who can afford a new purse with those prices? I have responsiblities in life. You know, things like rent, groceries, gas, etc. So, the funds I have left can't be squandered on a high end designer purse. The bag in the photo retails for as high as $350 in some boutiques and as little as $234 in others. Shopping around for the best price is the name of the game when it comes to designer purses.

TANO designer handbag electroplate 3755 leather designer purses is large enough to be used as a briefcase. Leather construction. Soft leather with comfortable design. Interior of bag has a center divider section with a zip top closure. Fully lined. Lots of pockets. Very contemporary style with sleek details. Silver hinged hardware secures the flat hinged handles. Secure zip top closure. The purse measures approximately 17 W x 14 H with a 3 inch depth. Guaranteed authentic. Comes with sleeper bag.

TANO handbags - the affordable adorable designer purse

TANO handbags

Tano is an affordable designer handbag with all the attributes a woman could want. The Tano handbag is made of beautiful, soft Italian crunch leather. Many of the Tano bags have different leather finishes making them unique from one to another. The Tano handbag is always fully lined and has several inside pockets to hold small essentials. Usually, the exterior of the Tano bag is also designed with extra pockets. Many of the styles use zippers, turn lock closures and drawstrings.

One of the best features of a Tano handbag is its size. Most of the leather Tano bags are big and roomy -- large enough to carry everything you'll need for the day. Most women work outside of the home and travel to work. It's nice to carry your day's necessities in a fashionable handbag -- a multi-functional purse or tote bag.

Tano recently introduced a collection of smaller bags. The clutch bags and wristlet bags are adorable and a perfect size. The Tano clutch bag can fit inside one of the larger sizes easily. It's convenient to carry a small handbag inside a large handbag. Especially, if you spend the day away from home running errands or meeting someone for lunch. Sometimes it's not necessary to carry a large purse, and so, the smaller clutch is perfect to carry to a luncheon or to run inside a store.

The latest trends in handbags usually dictate design with details like studs, chains, straps and fringe. The Tano handbag collection uses a variety of design characteristics making their bag trend setters. Plus, the colors Tano uses for their new collections every season change to introduce just the right amount of variety a woman needs. The standard, basic, neutral shades are also always available with every new collection.

Tano handbags are affordable and adorable. The price range for a brand new Tano leather handbag is about $100 - $230. The woven leathers are also in the same price range. Tano handbags are absolutely one of the best priced purses a woman can buy!
The handbag explosion over the past few years is a phenomenon. Women wear a pair of jeans with a T-shirt and flip-flops and top it off with a high-end designer handbag. Some of the designer purses cost thousands of dollars. The rising cost of these expensive trendy bags is amazing.

Because most women own more than one purse, it's important to consider the price when shopping for a new handbag. Other factors like style, design and fabrication also play an important role in purchasing a new purse. For durability, there's nothing better than leather. Design is more of a trendy characteristic. The style depends on how the handbag will be used.

But, the most important factor is usually price. Most women have bills to pay like rent or mortgage every month. So, it doesn't make sense to go into debt for a new handbag. Although, many women do!

A Tano Handbag is a Modern Day Classic!

Women spend a lot of money on designer fashion accessories, especially designer handbags. My favorite picks are designer purses made by Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Goyard, and Hermes. My closet is filled with these famous brands, and it's an investment I made over the past ten years. I enjoy buying and owning a classic handbag.

Lately, the leather handbags made by Tano have caught my attention. Tano handbags are not high priced and can be bought for under $250. Yet the Tano handbag is made very well with lots of room, colorful leathers and details beyond one's expectations.

The Tano handbag brand has been a famous name for a very long time, too. Tano handbags were being made as far back as 1912. The Tano Company owes its success to its founder Sebatian "Tano" Giner. Over the years, the Tano Company was managed by the Giner Family. Even today, the fashionable Tano handbags are being designed and sold by Steve and Seb Giner. The Tano handbag is a legacy.

Tano handbags have always had a modern look and feel. Tano handbags are a modern day classic because Tano keeps up with the times and provides an affordable handbag perfect to use everyday. Tano bags are very contemporary looking with sleek styles and versatile functionality. Many of the styles are large, roomy shoulder bags with lots of pockets and comfortable straps. Tano leather handbags are light weight compared to others, too. Even the larger styles aren't heavy to carry because Tano bags are usually uncontructed creating a slouchy, comfortable design.

When I was a little girl it was fun to dress up in Mom's clothes and pretend I was a fashionable woman with style and grace. I remember the leather clutch bags and Kelly bags from the 1950's, 60's and 70's as though it was yesterday. But I never paid attention to labels back then and don't know if any of the bags my mother owned were from famous designers. Now, I wonder if she had a Gucci or two, and wonder if Tano handbag was her favorite.

Mom would take down all her hat boxes open them and place them on the bed for me to try on. It was so much fun! Her hats had veils to pull over the front of my face. They had feathers and long decorative hat pins to add style. They were made of satin and felt. She called them pill box hats. She loved them.

Mom's shoe collection was smart and diverse. Many of the shoes were black and they all had high heels. The leather high heeled shoes were truly a challenge and made dressing up in Mom's accessories a day to remember. The hats, shoes and bags were all color coordinated. Women carried a red leather handbag wearing red leather shoes and a red hat. Everything matched!

When I read Vogue and see today's styles, many remind me of my mom's collection. Fashion trends come and go. History repeats itself. Designers create and recreate pulling ideas from inspiring thoughts and memories. Not much changes, the prices get much higher, but the styles, fabrications and colors are very much the same.

TANO Handbags - An American Favorite!

It's fun to watch a company grow and be a committed part of that growth. Tano handbags have become one of our favorites. Over the past few years we've watched the leathers transform from smooth and sleek to distressed, washed and weathered. Some of the styles used to be more constructed, but today the Tano handbag styles have become soft, comfortable and very modern.

If you look closely at the designs, your favorite
Tano bags will have a hint of the high-end designers'. This is accomplished without the high price tag associated with the designer handbags we see on Rodeo Drive, Michigan Avenue or Fifth Avenue. Luxury does not need to have a thousand dollar price tag.

Take a look at some of the
Tano bags from prior seasons. They are sleek, colorful, stylish, resemble high-end designs and cost under $200. The Tano handbags are fully lined and always have extra storage pockets for all your needs. There's a cell phone pocket, too and makes it really easy to grab the phone call before it's lost.

Have you noticed? Most of the
Tano purses have straps long enough to carry over the shoulder. We love shoulder bags. They are easy to carry and keep our hands free to shop, shop, shop! The leather and fabrics used are of the highest quality comparable to the prices paid. Why pay thousands of dollars for a leather bag when you can buy a Tano purse for under $200.

Metallic leathers have become very popular. Metallic leathers have always been available, but the past few years they have taken on a new twist. In the past, a metallic leather handbag was used primarily for an evening or very dressy affair. Now, you can carry a metallic leather handbag as your everyday purse and feel hip, stylish and very comfortable.

The Tano metallic leather designs and styles are made of very soft napa leather making them light weight and easy to carry. Some of the Tano metallic leathers are distressed making them even more contemporary and modern.

Distressed leathers and washed leathers are very popular nowadays. Leave it to Tano to be at the forefront with modern styles and designs using distressed leathers and washed leathers for their beautiful handbag collections.

The colors are always right-on target. Over the years the true shades of red, brown, blue, green, orange, purple, and yellow have been transformed to objects we love to carry. There's also the shades of gray and our favorite black leathers we must have in our Tano purse collection.

By now, if you haven't seen or owned a Tano purse, it might be time you do. For the best prices and widest online selection, please visit eFashionHouse.com

TANO handbags: A powerful return

In 2005, the TANO handbag website included history about the business and its owners. The owners, always members of the original founder of Tano, have made the Tano Handbag business one of the most popular handbag manufacturers in the USA. Tano bags date back to 1947. That means most of our ancestors who bought purses in the USA probably carried a Tano handbag. Isn't that an exciting thought? Now, we are such handbag addicts, it's an amusing thought to think your cousin, mom, sister, even grandmother carried a gorgeous Tano designer handbag.

Here's the excerpt taken directly from the TANO handbag website in 2005. Enjoy the read. You'll learn much about the hard work and dedication put into the manufacture and distribution of one of the most popular leather bags of our time.

Tano, now under new ownership, is making an exciting come back, and has a super-hot line that the market is a-buzz about!

COMPANY HISTORY

Tano was started in 1947 by Sebastian Giner, an artisan basket and bag maker from the Mediterranean village of Murla, Spain.

In 1960, he turned it over to his two sons, Sebastian and Peter. The company enjoyed tremendous success in the 70’s and 80’s, and was considered to be the top American handbag company for many years during that era. In 2002, Sebastian’s two sons, Steve and Seb, took over the reigns, bringing with them a bold and fresh new vision for the company. Determined to be the premier line in the mid price fashion handbag market, they’ve created one of the sharpest brand revivals ever seen in the industry! Says Seb, “This is our third season and we couldn’t have imagined such a positive explosion of our business. We’ve been selling to lots of the nation’s most exciting specialty stores, and seeing reorder business as we’ve never seen before. When you have a brand new customer base and 90% of them are either reordering in season or coming back for the new collections that’s when you know you’ve got a unique proposition that nobody in the market can match.”

THE DESIGNER

Steve is the creative force behind Tano. He has a passion for materials, an eye for shapes, and a love of hand rendered details. Three times a year, he travels to Florence, Italy to develop new styles and materials, working with the best tanneries and pattern makers in the world. On the flip side, he also has a nose for business; an MBA from NYU, fluency in Italian and Spanish, combined with 15 years of experience in wholesaling and retailing handbags within the family firm, give him a comprehensive understanding of the industry. “First and foremost, we want to make bags that are irresistible, bags that stylish women will covet but it’s not enough to make cool bags- they have to be priced right, given hand finished quality, and delivered on time.”

THE COLLECTION

Tano handbags are loaded with color and attitude. Cut from the finest Italian leather, and often embellished with handmade details, they are coveted by women with style who aren’t afraid to express themselves. This Fall, Tano nods to runway trends with lots of luxe materials and rich colors. The Metalique collection, including stylish shapes in metallic gold, silver, pewter, and blue, was on fire at the recent New York shows. The Dylan group, a young, urban look, excites with its irresistibly soft skin and hand distressed, contrast trimming. “With Dylan we took the liberty to destroy what we created in order to give the bags ‘edge.’ We used sandpaper, soap and water to get just the right attitude. Bags are best when they look lived in.” In our ever popular glazed Italian Bello leather, we offer not only a new palette (purple, moss, burnt orange, yellow leaf, expresso, and denim blue) but a wide range of new silhouettes as well, including the Spring roll tote - selected for Angela Rich’s popular “I Want, I Need, I Have To Have It” column in InStyle magazine’s January 2005 issue and the Guerrilla Tote – selected as a Lucky Magazine editor’s pick for the upcoming September 2004 issue.

TANO handbags - How it all began

In 2006, the Tano bag website had a section called "Core." Here's an excerpt from the Core of the Tano Handbag company taken directly from the Tano website in 2006.

Tano's Modernist Roots

When Sebastian "
Tano" Giner was just learning to crawl in the rural mountain village of Murla, Spain the Modernist era was exploding with creativity and excitement in world's big cites. The Modernists were turing the arts inside out...architecture, dance, literature, music, painting, and fashion. "Make it new," said Ezra Pound the great Modernist poet, and the artistic visionaries of the era followed his call.

True to the modernist spirit, when the first electric sewing machines arrived in Spain, Tano was the first harness the technology and apply it to his craft. He expanded his product range to burlap sacks. The well proportioned bags were later adorned with leather handles and became a local fashion favorite. In time, Tano bags along with espadrilles from the neighboring city of Elche, would become the standard dress code in the region and later throughout Spain and Europe.

Tano's vision became one of innovation and discovery in handbags through shape, material, and color. Each new season brought renewed creativity and an expanding audience that couldn't get enough. In 1960, he turned the operations over to his two sons, Sebastian and Peter to fulfill his bold new vision. Together they opened the first modern handbag production line in Europe, Tano Iberica of Madrid. The brothers invested in new technologies at each opportunity so that they could quickly turn their artistic ideas into bags their audience could enjoy. The factory won the praises of the Spanish Export Council and earned recognition as Spain's largest and highest quality exporter of sewn goods during the 1960's and 1970's. The factory became the model which handbag factories around the globe would follow.

In 2002, the company entered it's third generation of family management. Grandson's Steve and Seb, took over the reigns, bringing with them a colorful past of handbag innovation and leadership. Says Steve of the company's future "We hold our company's past in the highest esteem. But ironically we must have a certain irreverence for all things past. This is how we keep our bags fresh. This was an integral piece of our grandfather's vision. We need to keep making it new."
